to establish a collection of one or more genera
to exchange seed or other materials with other botanic gardens, arboreta or research institutions
to maintain documented details of the arboretum collection
to accurately identify living plants on display, accompanied by scientifically based interpretive comment

to provide a community facility for passive recreation, relaxation, entertainment,education and information
to enhance passive recreation use compatible with the existing walking/cycleway along Wingecarribee River, Bong Bong Common, the existing National Parks & Wildlife Service Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve and the work carried out by the Landcare Group

Waterwise Management |
| This will be a two fold plan. It is necessary for
the enviromental viability of the gardens and
the education of the community |
| Managment practice will enhance the quality of water and be achieved by recycling, reticulation, ponding, groundwater/stormwate retention, waterwise gardening and selecting the correct plant types of trees, particularly for wet, bog areas.
